Treasure the people around you

Nobody knows when we will die. It could be the next moment or we might live to be 100 years old. We really don’t know how long our lives will last, and two things happened lately that have made me think about this.

As everyone knows, television actor Chen Hung-lieh died in late November while working on set. He had a heart attack with no warning. It was so sad to hear the news.

I also got a terrible fright when my grandmother, who brought me up and loves me so much, recently had an accident. She fell on the floor and broke her arm and was in terrible pain. It really tugged at my heart to see her arm in a cast and all of her normal energy gone. It made me realise that our lives are not really in our own hands. If God wants to take our life, we can be gone at a moment’s notice and we can’t predict the future.

I think this is why it is important to treasure the people around us. We never know when they will be gone.

Life is the most precious thing, the god gives us. I think god will not take our life as he wish. In our life, god wants us to learn to treasure other. Death cannot be avoided, no matter who you are. Even someone dies, the earth still turns around. It would not stop for you. I think we should still live happily.
Treasure others; we cannot wastes time when we are aware life is precious. It is late. We must treasure others now.

I agree with what Wendy says. It is because everyone will die one day,no one can say he or she will not die.Treasure the people, like family is especially important to me. My mother’s best friend died two days ago. Maybe she never thought she would die so soon, but it is a truth that cannot be changed. People think they are far away from death. But they don’t know death is around them.Let’s look at some people who died in car accidents.DO they know they will die on a normal day when they were on the way home or company they were working for? No,they never knew that.Bible recorded a rich man said to his soul”Don’t worry. You have a lot of supply and sample.” But God thinks he is damfoolish. We all know we cannot use the money that we had. So,what is more important than the family always love us?

Thank you for your letter, Wendy. As the saying goes, the only two things in life which are certain are death and taxes. You are quite right when you say we should treasure people when we can, especially our grandparents. They have so much to offer in the way of history and wisdom.

All too often young people think old folks are boring and inconsequential and could not possibly understand their world. What they forget is that these are the people who have walked the path before them. We can learn a lot from them.
