Cadbury’s eyebrow advert was immensely popular. It was viewed more than 4 million times on Youtube in the first three weeks of its release. Many people imitated the children’s eyebrow dancing, both children and adults. The music is now a popular ringtone.

It is difficult to imagine how anyone could be harmed by imitating the eyebrow movements, except perhaps with strained brow muscles. There are so many serious things in life and a little joy should not be frowned upon.

When we turn on the television, we see different kinds of advertisements. They have a strong influence on us.

For example, a few mouths ago, Cadbury had an advert in which a boy and a girl moved their eyebrows to the beat of the music. Many children were imitating the eyebrow dancing. Some parents complained about this, saying it was harmful to youngsters.

Some adverts are misleading, such as those of slimming centres, beauty parlours and credit companies. Slimming centres and beauty parlours brag about their success. Credit companies make tempting offers. But how much of it is true?

Some adverts are good for us, such as the one made by the government to urge people not to listen to their MP3s while crossing the street.

I think the government needs to have stricter control over television advertisements.
