Adopt a healthy way of eating

After watching the documentary  Food Inc, I became aware of the dark side of food manufacturing.  We have the responsibility to protect the ecosystem.

Unscrupulous food manufacturers have no morals. All they care about is profits.  The way animals are slaughtered is inhumane, and manufacturers add unhealthy ingredients to food to give it a better taste or make it last longer.

Every day we eat heaps of junk food, for instance, hamburgers and deep-fried snacks.   We think we are saving time and money.  But it actually leads to health problems.

Consumers should lead a healthy lifestyle and shop for fresher food at wet markets instead of supermarkets.  But it is actually much healthier and safer to cook at home.

Take your first step – don’t eat fast food

The movie Food Inc certainly has had the desired effect on all who have seen it. It is easy to become caught up in the spirit of the film – food companies bad, homegrown meals good. But it fails to point out that millions of people need food. The companies’ response has been to fill that need in the most efficient and cost-effective way they can. What the film captures is the ugly result of such rampant need. It makes people realise that what they think might be healthy may not be so.
